Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) hosted an important organization to prepare its students for TEKNOFEST. Organized in collaboration with the Agricultural Technologies Cluster (TÜME), the "On the Road to Teknofest: Agriculture and Livestock Ideathon" aimed to develop innovative project ideas among young people.

At the event held at Lavanta Tepesi Hotel, participants received training on technical report preparation methods, comprehensive literature review techniques, and project development processes. As part of the program, students formed teams during an intensive one-hour working period to develop project ideas in the field of agriculture and livestock.

Emphasis on agriculture and technology

Speaking at the event, TÜME Board Member and Aytek Robotics manager Ferdi Alakuş emphasized that the merging of agriculture and technology is no longer a choice but a necessity. Alakuş pointed out that agriculture, livestock, and food are matters of national security and stated that technology-based transformation is essential to increase efficiency and ensure sustainability.

Alakuş stated that TÜME has started to establish itself in universities this year and that educational farms will be set up across Turkey and made active by TEKNOFEST. He noted that they aim to create exemplary model farms with autonomous systems, robotic applications, and data-driven management approaches.

"Our goal is beyond the competition"

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Uyumaz, stated that the university, as an institution specialized in agriculture and livestock, carries an important responsibility. Uyumaz expressed that their goal is not only to participate in a competition but to train young people who can produce solutions to real problems in the field.

Uyumaz emphasized the importance of students gaining competence in literature research, project writing, and development techniques, stating that a strong agricultural future will be built with knowledge, technology, and the productive vision of young people.

Şanlıurfa target

T3 Foundation Burdur Provincial Representative Emine Büşra Aygün also highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary work in her speech. Aygün stated that the Ideathon process is an area of experience for students and provided guidance on how the developed ideas would transform into a TEKNOFEST project.

It was reported that TEKNOFEST, organized in different cities and countries since 2018, will be held in Şanlıurfa this year from September 30 to October 4. It was noted that the organization has grown each year to become one of the world's largest technology festivals.

At the end of the program, students formed working groups and shared their project ideas. The draft projects emerging from the Ideathon are aimed to be the first step on the journey to the TEKNOFEST stage.
